Couples (Gottman/EFT)
-
Many factors can lead to dissatisfaction and disconnection in marriage. We want to help your couple relationships attain more effective communication, trust, and connection (whether that be emotionally, mentally, physically, or spiritually) through emotionally focused therapy and research-based couples therapy techniques. A secure base in marriage becomes a launching pad for other important areas of your life as well.

Teenagers/Young Adults
-
One teenage client summed it up so well: Teenagers are old enough to know that the world can really suck at times; but young enough to not have a clue as to what to do about it.
-
Like adults, teenagers can face a myriad of difficulties in life. They can struggle with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, loss, and disappointment. However, they may not even know how to talk about it with their parents, or those closest to them. It is a truly vulnerable and monumentally important population.
-
We want to help your teenager or young adult face, and even thrive, in their endeavors of making meaningful friendships, identifying their unique strengths, dealing with bullying, finding healthy beliefs about their ability to thrive in school, and pay attention to what is being asked of them at home, as well as in the community.

Sports Psychology
-
You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation. --Plato
-
You would naturally think that winning is the end-all-be-all of competition. However, the root of the word competition is “to mutually uplift.” Athletes are not only wanting to win, but that are wanting to reach and fulfill their potential. Through competition, athletes don’t only attain their own best heights, but they bring others on their team, and even those they compete against, to newer heights as well. We want to help you accomplish your athletic or competitive goals through sports psychology.

Anxiety/Stress Reduction
-
Show me 100 people who struggle with anxiety and I will show you 100 of the nicest, most caring people in the world. Anxiety is one of the most common mental or emotional health conditions. Many athletes, Kevin Love, Michael Phelps, and countless others, have recently opened up about their experiences with anxiety. One of the goals is to eliminate the stigma of anxiety and to know that you are not alone in your suffering. Anxiety can be multi-faceted and we take various factors into account when working with individuals who are experiencing chronic or high levels of anxiety.

Depression
-
Many of the most influential human beings on this planet have battled with depression: Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln, Ellen DeGeneres, J.K. Rowling, Charles Dickens, and Albert Einstein. Part of their influence comes from thinking and feeling deeply. Those with depression are aware of a suffering that many are not aware of. Research has shown that a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness based stress reduction, physical health components, other research based methods, and sometimes anti-depressants can help support those who think and feel so deeply that they feel they are not thriving and progressing.

-
Religion/Spirituality
-
Although it is difficult for many to decipher, there is a difference between mental health and spirituality. We want to enhance and support your spirituality and core values through understanding, genuine listening, and exploring your most core values and beliefs without judgment. We also want to help you distinguish the differences between mental/emotional health, and spiritual belief systems. There are some things that spiritual practices will alleviate and there are other components of mental health that may be liberating and freeing to become aware of, such as biology, nutrition, negative thinking patterns, and family history, just to name a few.

Family Therapy Relational Counseling
-
The more people you get in a room, the closer you get to reality. Family therapy isn’t always as “warm and fuzzy” as individual counseling, but can be very effective in changing interaction patterns, resentment, and healing relationships. More and more research has been done on the effectiveness of family therapy and changing the environment and relationship system of the family, rather than just focusing on one individual within it.

-
Life Transitions (grief, school, job loss, new parenthood)
-
Adjustments and transitions are the most common reasons people seek therapy. Everyone goes through them and you don’t have to go through them alone. We want to help you find your life’s purpose and direction if you are facing a life transition, such as middle school, high school, college, marriage, parenthood, or even mourning.

In-Home Therapy
-
There are some situations where it is in the client’s best interest to meet in the comfort of their own home. We are happy to meet you where you are if that is what is in your best interest. We have seen great successes in working in the same environment that families are used to.
-

-
Trauma
-
Intense stress reactions to a variety of situations can be crippling and cause limitations in work, family, and social situations. Researched methods of MBSR, EMDR, and CBT have been scientifically proven to support those who have experienced trauma in its complexity and uniqueness of the individuals who have experienced it.

Addiction/Compulsive Behaviors
-
We first make our habits, then our habits make us. –John Dryden
-
Addiction and compulsive behaviors are a difficult beast to challenge on your own. You have probably already tried to alter those behaviors on your own for years. It takes a leap of courage and vulnerability to admit the need for help and support. Just remember, the prize and treasure that await are worth it. Don’t let alcohol, drugs, or other compulsive behaviors destroy what you value the most: family relationships, occupation, other meaningful relationships, or your individual health or ability to accomplish what you are wanting to in this life.

Anger Issues
-
Anger is a universal emotion. Everyone feels it. However, if your anger is getting in the way of your marriage, relationship with your children, your job, or your own ability to enjoy life, there are proven ways to treat anger issues. Primarily, you are looking for ways to create space between what is triggering your anger and your response to that stimulus. Also, you are usually feeling something more significant underneath that anger that you need to identify and express. Anger isn’t very huggable or relatable, but it can be a signal that something is extremely important and vital to you.
